Funding for Therapy

Medicare – Better Access to Mental Health Care
  • With a referral from your GP you will be eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year 
  • All sessions incur a gap fee as we do not offer bulk billing
Workcover
  • Confirmation of approval and a claim number is required to access psychology services for work-related injuries and illnesses
  • The total number of services provided will depend on the specifics of your claim
  • There is a gap fee for appointments. 
Private Health Fund Insurance

Typically, you will need extras cover on your Insurance Policy in order to claim rebates for individual psychology services.  The amount reimbursed will vary as this depends upon your Private Health Fund and your level of cover.

Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA)
  • You require a referral from your GP to access clinical psychology treatment services.
  • The total number of services provided depends on the specifics of your claim.
  • There is no gap fee for these services.
Transport Accident Commission (TAC)
  • A TAC claim number is required to access psychology services to following transport or vehicle related injuries or illnesses
  • The total number of services provided will depend on the specifics of your claim
  • There is an out-of-pocket cost for appointments covered under TAC
Employer Assistance Programs (EAP)

You will need to discuss with your employer to ascertain if you are eligible for EAP services for personal or work-related issues

Private Fees / Self-Funded

You may attend the Centre for Clinical Psychology as a private patient which means that you do not require a referral.

Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme

The Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme can award the costs of

  • psychological treatment as compensation to victims of crime, following a psychological assessment and submission of a report
  • The total number of services provided will depend on the specifics of your claim
