How can I tell if I have experienced a psychological injury?
Psychological injuries aren't always obvious. Common signs may include:
- Persistent low mood, anxiety, or depression
- Sleep problems or fatigue
- Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
- Feeling unable to return to your work environment
If your symptoms are directly related to a workplace incident, speak with your GP about a referral to an experienced psychologist. You don't need a formal diagnosis to reach out.
Can I access psychology services if my claim is still being assessed?
Under WorkSafe Victoria's provisional payments scheme, you may access psychological treatment for up to 13 weeks while your claim is being assessed, even if it is ultimately not accepted WorkSafe will fund therapy during this period. Call our team, and we can talk you through your options.
What documentation do I need to bring to my first session?
It may help to bring:
- Your claim number
- Any correspondence from your WorkSafe agent or case manager
- A GP referral, if you have one
Not sure what you need? Contact us before your appointment, and our admin team will guide you
What happens at the end of my approved sessions? Can my treatment continue?
Your psychologist may request further sessions through your WorkSafe agent if ongoing treatment is clinically indicated. If your claim concludes, we may transition you to private sessions. Your recovery will always remain our priority.
