Tara Fang

Tara is a registered Psychologist and holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Federation University, a Master’s degree in Professional Psychology from Latrobe University, as well as a Master’s degree in early childhood teaching from Monash University. Her clinical approach is grounded in attachment and developmental theories and frameworks. She is committed to creating a safe, curious, and collaborative therapeutic space where clients can explore their personal values and strengths, deepen self-awareness and insight, strengthen motivation, and build the skills needed to navigate life’s challenges.

Tara has worked with clients across the lifespan in clinical, educational, public health, and community health settings. She supports clients with a broad range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, PTSD / trauma, stress, insomnia, adjustment difficulties, relationship challenges and grief and loss. She has worked with clients affected by developmental trauma, sexual trauma, family violence, peri-natal or post-natal challenges, social and economic marginalisation, and other systemic adversities.

Tara shares a strong passion in the intersection of clinical practice and research. She also shares a clinical interest in the intersection of physical and mental health and has supported individuals recovering from acute health events, adjusting to new diagnoses and treatment, and working through end-of-life challenges and conversations.

Tara is passionate about finding the “Just Right” treatment for each individual client. She draws on a range of evidence-based treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) to support deeper explorations of emotional, behavioural, and relational patterns, build capacities for change, and overcome distress associated with past trauma experiences.

Tara is fluent in English and Mandarin. She is committed to ongoing professional development.
