Summer is a registered psychologist. She has experience working with young people, families, and adults across settings including community, public mental health, health psychology, and private practice.
Summer is holistic and compassionate in her approach, and values collaboration and empowerment in her practice. She deeply respects diversity and recognises her role in creating a safe space where clients can build a trusting therapeutic relationship in order to process healing. Summer seeks to explore and develop a shared understanding of a person’s difficulties, relevant past experiences, and further insight into the person’s internal belief systems, strengths, and values.
Summer will tailor therapy to individual needs, by drawing from evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. When working with people who have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Summer uses Cognitive Processing Therapy. She is also a credentialed eating disorder clinician with training in Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Family-Based Treatment.
Summer has experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, and people with chronic health conditions. She has a particular interest in working with trauma, PTSD, health and adjustment problems, and personality disorder.
